Informazioni su Punti e Quadrati del Trifoglio

Clover Dots and Boxes is the classic pencil-and-paper game of dots and boxes, played in a garden bed at dusk. The dots are little wooden pegs; you and Nutmeg the woodpecker take turns stretching one piece of twine between two neighbouring pegs. Close the fourth side of a box and a clover sprouts in it for you, or a red-capped mushroom for Nutmeg.

Play Nutmeg on Easy, Medium or Hard on a 3×3, 4×4 or 5×5 board, or switch to 2 Players and share one screen. Every day there is also a Daily puzzle: the same endgame for everyone, where you must end with a set number of boxes while Nutmeg plays perfectly.

Come si gioca

  1. On your turn, draw one line between two pegs that sit next to each other, across or up and down. Lines that are already drawn cannot be drawn again.
  2. When your line closes the fourth side of a box, the box is yours and you must draw another line. Close a box with that one too and you go again, so one turn can sweep a whole chain of boxes.
  3. When every line is drawn, the side with more boxes wins. Who starts alternates from one game to the next. A 4×4 board can end in a draw.
  4. Each box you take scores 10 points; a win adds 100 plus 10 for every box you won by. Medium doubles every point and Hard triples it.
  5. You have three clover leaves. Losing a game, or giving one up after your first line, costs a leaf; a win gives one back. The game ends when the last leaf is gone. In 2 Players there are no leaves and no score.
  6. In the Daily puzzle no safe lines are left. You must end with at least the number of boxes shown: 4×4 from Monday to Thursday, 5×5 from Friday to Sunday. A line that lets Nutmeg hold you below it resets the puzzle. Solve it on consecutive days to grow your streak.

Comandi

Tastiera
Click between two pegs to draw a line; the mouse shows the line first, in red if it would hand Nutmeg a box and in gold if it closes one. You can also drag from one peg to the next. The arrow keys move a cursor over the open lines and Space or Enter draws. U takes back your last line, H shows a hint, N starts a new game and D opens the Daily puzzle.
Touch
Tap between two pegs to draw a line, or press and slide to the line you want and lift your finger. Tap the board to hurry Nutmeg. Undo, Hint, New and Daily sit below the board; the buttons next to the leaves switch the level and the board size.

Consigli

  • Never draw the third side of a box unless you have to: the next player simply takes it.
  • Late in the game the board splits into chains and loops. When you must open one, open the shortest chain first.
  • When Nutmeg opens a long chain, you can take all but the last two boxes and leave them with one line. Nutmeg takes the two, then has to open the next chain for you.
  • Count the long chains (three boxes or more) before the safe lines run out: whoever is forced to open the first one usually loses.
